THE PANGOLIN
Is this an artichoke or is it a pinecone? The remarkable scales, covering the body of the pangolin, spark numerous associations, when observed. However, only few people know about this highly endangered animal, which is the most frequently poached animal in the world. My illustrated non-fiction book intends to introduce the pangolin to children and their parents, since the pangolin is indeed unique. It is, for instance, the only mammal that is covered in scales. Once it is curled up into a ball and it is protected by these scales, there is almost no animal capable of harming the pangolin – except, of course, humans.
